               Saving Money by Spending More

Todays savings tip is perhaps a little bit suprising. What if I were to suggest that by spending more money than you need to, you could save a bit more.
How can this be? I hear you say. Read on.

Here is a typical scenario. You have run out of bread and milk. So what is the most obvious, money-saving thing to do?

Of course, it's obvious. You dash off to your local supermarket/Hypermarket and buy your bread and milk at the knockdown price they are selling it for and you save loads of money. Right?......... WRONG!

Professional shopping psychologists  are employed by supermarkets to tempt you to buy things. By using all sorts of cunning ploys that most of us are unaware of, they get inside our minds. Their purpose, and the end result if they are successful, is that we spend more money than we planned to.  Unless you are one of the very few, exceptional, people in this world who can resist the temptation they provide by clever positioning of products and other tricks. These people will empty your wallet.

Think about this for a moment. Haven't you come out of the store and been amazed to realise just how much you have bought?  If you go into the supermarket to buy one or two items you can be sure you will come out with six, or ten or even twenty. I do it. We all do it.

So, the secret to saving money, in this case, is to go to your local convenience store. Buy your bread and your milk there. Resist any temptation to linger and browse. Walk in, purchase and walk out again.
You may have paid a little bit more for your goods but you will have spent less money than if you had gone to the supermarket. You will have helped your local community by supporting the local small shop and you might well have had a healthy little walk instead of an unhealthy drive to the supermarket in which case you gain on fitness and health and save money on petrol.

So, to summarise. You have spent a little more on the goods you needed but you have avoided the temptaion to buy things you don't need. You have had a healthy walk and you have saved money on petrol which may well balance up the extra you paid for the food anyway.
