Another Bank Rate Rise Likely Next Week

It looks like a pretty safe bet that bank interest rates will be raised again next week by the Bank Of England. Word on the street seems to be expecting a 0.25%increase.

More pain for those with credit cards, loans and mortgages.

The effects of the previous rises seem to be having more and more of an effect now so let’s hope that this will be at least the last for a while and maybe the last before interest rates stabalise again and start moving back downwards.

Save Money By Saving Energy

A simple way of saving money by using less energy that is so simple and will probably even go unnoticed in it’s action is to reduce the temperature setting on your hot water thermostat. Many people have this set so high that the water temperature is uncomfortably hot and there is hardly any reason to do that.

Turn down the temperature a little, just a degree or two at a time. Continue weekly until you find the right temperature for your lifestyle and you probably won’t even notice the difference but it will reduce your energy consumption and save you money.

Another Carnival Of Finance

The latest carnival of personal finance is now available at GettingGreen.

There are 79 financial related articles available there but some of my favourites are as follows:-

HomeFinanceFreedom has an interesting view on deciding if you should Pay off Your Mortgage

MoneyAndCredit talks about the importance of Financial Literacy.

MyTwoDollars considers whether it would be possible to live on just one income. An interesting discussion that demonstrates how modern life is so different from that not so many years ago.

WereInDebt explains the importance of involving your partner in the day to day running of your finances.

Thanks to GettingGreen for preparing the Carnival Of Personal Finance this week.
