The only person who can decide how much you can pay off each month in your Debt Reduction scheme is you. However, we can offer some suggestions to help you decide.
You have, hopefully, by now worked out your income and your expenses. You will have totalled your debts and organised them into a prioritised list and you should have a good idea of available cash each month.
Don't forget. You MUST pay the minimum amount required by the bank every month on each debt. If you don't then they may add charges and extra costs that will just add to your total debt.
Decide how much cash you need to keep spare to get you through the month. Remember that you are trying to avoid using your credit cards so don't restrict yourself so much that you end up using the cards to get through the month.
So pay as much as you feel you can afford. Perhaps be a little cautious the first month or two. Remember that this is supposed to help make life better. Don't starve yourself just to pay off a bit more. This is a long term programme not a quick-fix. You have to find a level of repayment that reduces the debts at a level you can continue to live with.
Just keep in mind that the more you pay now, the less there will be to pay in the long run. Every bit of interest saved now means less interest is charged in the future. If you find a bit of extra money then adding it to the monthly debtcrusher will make a difference. Every penny helps.
You can do it and you will do it. Just persevere and you will achieve your dream of being debt free. Next...> What About The Future?
