HOW MUCH DO YOU OWE?
So how much do you owe? If you don't know then this proves that you are not Managing your money. It is managing you. It's important that you are aware of what debts you have
Just adding to your debts each time you fancy something new is not managing your debts. It's ignoring them. This may work for a short time as you take on new loans and credit card debts.
You need to find out what you do owe and how much your monthly costs are. You do this by assembling all the relevant documents and making a list of the outstanding debt, the monthly interest rate & the minimum payment required for each of your debts.
It may all sound like a lot of work but you can do it, bit-by-bit if you wish. Collect them all together ready to work on. But, remember that each day of doing nothing is costing you money. Interest on your loans and debts doesn't wait for you and will be increasing day by day.
Some items you pay for are not debts, they are expenses and you can never pay them off. Your Electricity bill for example is a continuous charge that can never be paid off. So whilst you need to know about these other costs they don't count in your total debt sums. You may be able to reduce the cost of some of them which would allow you to use those savings to reduce your debts. Next...> What Is Your Income?
